Wife’s Anger Issue and Healer’s Medicine – Sweet Cure for Anger

Wife's Anger Issue and Healer's Medicine - Sweet Cure for AngerOnce in a village, there lived a potter and his wife. The potter earned his living by making and selling clay pots, supporting his family with this humble work. He was a kind, calm, and patient man.

However, his wife was very short-tempered. She would get angry over the smallest of things. She didn’t understand why she became so furious so easily.

Later, she would often realize the damage she had caused to herself and to her relationships.

One day, while the potter was making a pot, his wife said to him, “Look, I get angry over every little thing. You understand this, but others don’t realize that it’s like a disease for me. That’s why I had a fight with a neighbor woman today. Please do something – find a cure for my anger.”

Next morning, the potter took his wife to a famous local healer (vaidya).

Healer listened to her patiently and sat silently, deep in thought. Potter’s wife, growing anxious, asked him, “Can this illness of mine be cured? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Healer replied, “I had a similar problem once, and I brought a medicine for it. I was just thinking about where I kept it.”

He then went into his house and came out after some time with a packet of medicine.

Handing it to her, he said, “These are some pills. Whenever you feel angry, just keep one in your mouth and suck on it. Don’t chew, just keep sucking on it.”

A week later, the potter and his wife returned to the healer. She fell at the healer’s feet.

Surprised, he asked, “What happened? Why are you doing this? Tell me everything in detail.”

Potter’s wife replied, “Your medicine worked wonders! So many of my relationships were saved. Just the other day, I was arguing with my husband when my mother-in-law walked in. The moment I saw her; I took your medicine, and I instantly calmed down.

Similarly, I nearly got into a fight with our neighbor, but I sucked on the pill, and it all passed peacefully. Now, whenever I feel angry or someone gets angry at me, I take the pills. They have helped me so much!”

Laughing, healer said, “That wasn’t medicine – it was just some sweet candy.”

He added, “Your relationships are healing not because of those candies but because you have started keeping calm. Whenever you get angry, if you simply stay quiet and give yourself time to think about what’s right and wrong, you will avoid making bad decisions.”

This story is simple yet deeply insightful. It uses a relatable situation – anger in everyday relationships – to convey a powerful truth that our reactions shape the quality of our lives far more than the circumstances themselves.
