Kaka used to earn his living by cutting trees for a factory. Factory owner was very happy with his work; he used to tell his new employee to use axe like him.
Most workers got jealous of him because of this.
One day factory when factory owner was praising Kaka for his work, a young and strong worker came forward and said, “Sir, you always praise him only, we also work hard. Infact, while we continue to work without rest, he goes to take rest in between his work.”
At this owner said, “Brother, i don’t care who takes how much rest, who does how much work. Only thing i care about is who cuts most tree at end of day.
I have always seen that, Kaka remains 2-3 trees ahead of all of you even though he is older than you.”
At this young worker said, “If this is so, why not have a tree cutting competition tomorrow and one who cuts most trees in a day will be the winner.”
Owner agreed.
Next day, competition started. Young workers were more enthusiastic for this day and were working hard to win competition.
Whereas Kaka seemed to be in no hurry. He was cutting trees as usual.
Everyone saw that by first half of day, Kaka had cut only 4-5 trees while others had already cut 6-7 trees.
Even after this much difference, Kaka went to rest at his usual time, whereas young workers were still cutting trees.
After resting, Kaka returned with his axe on his shoulder and got back to his work.
Competition ended at scheduled time and owner started counting the tree.
Most number of trees cut by one of young worker, among all were 11. Everyone was happy for him as no other young worker was able to cut even 10.
Now owner started counting trees cut by Kaka.
1..2..3.. and these are 12 trees. Owner announced happily.
Kaka won the competition.
Defeated young worker said, “I accept my defeat but Kaka your physical strength is less than our and on top of that you went to take rest in between competition, still you cut most trees. How?
Kaka said, “It’s simple. When i go for rest, i take that time to refresh myself and sharpen the edge of my axe, so that i can cut more trees, with less efforts.”
