Story 1: Because of Heavy Rain – Loss or Gain?
A man was going to his home after taking leave from his employer. He had bought a light-coloured scarf, paper toys and sugar drops (sweets) for his family.
On the way, it started raining, and all the things he was carrying got spoiled. The man began cursing God, saying, “Why did it have to rain right now?”
A little further ahead, he came across some robbers hiding in the bushes. They aimed their guns at him, but because their cartridges were wet, the guns didn’t fire.
Somehow, the man managed to save his life. Now he felt remorseful and began thanking God.
Story 2: Anyone Who Wished can Go to Heaven
Once, the Creator announced that for one week, the restriction on deeds would be lifted and anyone who wished could come to heaven. A long line of people eager to reach heaven began to form at the gates of heaven.
One man, carrying a bundle of firewood on his head, was walking toward his home. The Creator stopped his celestial chariot and asked him, “Brother, didn’t you hear the news that anyone can now go to heaven?”
“I did hear it, Lord,” the man replied, “but I already see heaven in the laughter of my happy children, in the love of my devoted wife, in the cooperation of my hardworking brothers, and in the friendship and harmony among my neighbour’s. Why should I abandon this heaven on earth to wander aimlessly in the sky?”
The old man sighed contentedly as he spoke.
