Once upon a time, There was a King who was very Kind and generous. King had everything and people in his Kingdom were happy but still King would feel unhappy and sad every time.
His ministers always tried on or other ways to make King happy but none of them succeeded. King didn’t understand what to do, how can he feel happy.
One day, a wise person advised, “You should bring piece of cloth from happiest person of this Kingdom for King. If King wear that person’s cloth, then may ward off King’s obscurity and sadness.”
Search was started in Kingdom. Minister’s went on to search for happiest man in their Kingdom. They tried hard to find such person but everyone had one or other complain about their life.
After days of hunting, one of ministers came across a sadhu who was totally engrossed in meditation. He seemed to be unaware of futile things happening around him.
Sadhu was looking very happy and content. His infectious smile attracted minister’s attention.
Minister went to Saint and asked him to come to go along with him to palace as King urgently needed to meet him.
Sadhu agreed.
Once in court, King welcomed and embraced him. After exchanging few pleasantries, King offered him a basket full of gems and jewelry.
Sadhu inquired, “I am a Sadhu. All these things hold no significance for me. Kindly tell me the purpose of this meeting.”
King hesitantly explained his condition and begged Sadhu for his cloth.
Sadhu smiled and said, “I am just disciple of ideals i have set for my life. I only possess bare necessity for my survival and i lead a life like that of flowing stream. One day here, other there, ever roaming.
Therefore, Only cloth i own, is one i am wearing. I don’t have any to spare.”
Listening to this King realized that he doesn’t need anything to be happy. Happiness comes from inside.
Moral:
The Primary reason for a Person’s Dejection and Sufferings is his Own Desires and Fantasies. The Moment weFree ourselves from their Shackles, We Experience Satisfaction, Salvation and Happiness all around.
