A long time ago, there was a fisherman named Urashima, who used to live in Japan. He was a kind and good-hearted man.
One day, he went to seashore to catch fishes and saw some children were teasing a little turtle. Urashima saved that turtle from children and released it back to sea.
Next day, When Urashima went to seashore again for fishing, suddenly a giant turtle appeared in front of him and said, “I am friend of little turtle whom you saved yesterday. My master, Dragon King of Sea, has invited you to his palace to thank you.”
Urashima obeyed turtle and went down to sea with him. There he saw wonderful palace that was located in depths of sea.
In palace he met a beautiful princess named Otohime.
Otohime welcomed Urashima and urged him to stay in palace. The Palace was very beautiful and atmosphere there was like a dream.
So Urashima decided to spend some time there. Times passed quickly. Urashima didn’t realized how many days has passed.
After a while, he began to miss his home and family and told princess that he wanted to go back to his village.
Princess gave him a special box as a farewell gift and said, “This box is for you but remember never open it.”
With that box, Urashima returned to his village. But when he reached village, he saw that everything changed. His home, his parents, his friends, everyone disappeared.
He asked around but no one knew him, or anything related to him. At that time, he realized that he had lived in palace for several hundred years.
Urashima felt very sad and remembered that princess had given him a box. In his despair, he opened the box.
As soon as he opened the box, white smoke came out and he instantly aged.
He realized that his time was shocked in that box and as soon as he opened it, all his time came back in an instant.
Urashima looked up to the sky in regret, but it was too late.
