Cobbler’s Test of Kindness – God Story

Cobbler’s Test of Kindness - God StoryThe cobbler’s shop was small, and his earnings were modest. He had only a few utensils at home, yet he lived a content life. He was honest, kind, and always ready to help others.

To test his devotion, God decided to visit him.

One night, cobbler had a dream in which God spoke to him, “Tomorrow morning, I will visit your shop.”

The Cobbler’s Preparation

The next morning, the cobbler woke up early and prepared for God’s arrival. He bought fresh milk, tea leaves, and sweets. He cleaned his shop and eagerly waited.

However, it was a rainy day and heavy downpours continued since morning.

Unexpected Visitors

After some time, he saw a poor street sweeper, drenched and shivering in the cold rain. Feeling pity, he quickly made tea using the milk he had brought for God and offered it to him.

At noon, a woman arrived carrying her hungry child. She pleaded, “My child is starving. Can you give me some milk?”

Without hesitation, the cobbler gave her all the milk he had.

Time passed, and by late afternoon, an old, frail man struggling to walk came to the shop. With folded hands, he said, “I haven’t eaten all day. If you could spare some food, I’d be grateful.”

The cobbler, moved by his helplessness, offered him the sweets he had bought for God.

The Cobbler’s Disappointment

As night fell, the cobbler, who had waited all day, grew impatient. Saddened, he looked up and said, “Oh God, I waited for you from morning till night, but you never came. You promised, yet you didn’t keep your word. Why did you deceive a poor man like me?”

Just then, a divine voice echoed from the sky:

“My dear child, I visited you not once, but three times today. Each time, you welcomed me with kindness and selflessness. You have passed my test. Your compassion and generosity are beyond ordinary human limits.”

The Story teaches us Important lessons:

# God is Everywhere and, in Every Form – He may come to test us in any form, and we should see His presence in every person.

# Selfless Service is True Devotion – More than rituals and prayers, helping those in need is the real path to divinity.

# Kindness and Sacrifice always Bear Fruit – When we help others without expecting anything in return, the good comes back to us in some way.

# Have Patience and Faith – Sometimes, it may seem like our good deeds are unnoticed, but God watches and rewards us at the right time.

# Show Love and Compassion to all – We shouldn’t decide who deserves help. If someone seeks assistance, we should never turn them away.

True virtue lies in selfless acts of kindness.
